My "pick" for Lent yesterday was to research a little known saint (little known to me anyway) and during the course of my research I came across a great website -
Saints and Blesseds Page. This site is filled with information on unusual and lesser known saints. I chose to research
St Lidwina whom I had heard of but knew little about. She is the patron saint of ice skaters and the chronically ill. Her story is fascinating! Thomas a Kempis witnessed a few of her miracles and was so fascinated by this saint that he wrote a
book about her that you can read online.
I read the short article (not the book:) and it is so fascinating! Thank you for sharing that. I genuinely love to learn about the saints. Their lives inspire and their example is so strengthening.
ReplyDeleteColleen,
ReplyDeleteI love to learn about the saints too :) I add them to my "saints litany" which is getting pretty long I have to say. I can't help it though because their lives fascinate me!
Blessings to you Mary.
ReplyDeleteJBR,
ReplyDeleteI hope you are feeling well. I am praying for you!
TAN Books has a title "St. Lidwyne of Schiedam" (sp?)which I read about 10 years ago. I was amazed at what she endured for Christ.
ReplyDeleteI noticed the various ways her name is spelled. I saw it as Lydwina too. Thanks for the info, Barb, I might read up on her a bit more.
