This is horrifying

Allison at A Broken Fortress posted this article about a Minneapolis couple who are accepting online votes on whether they should abort or keep their baby. The couple's website is http://www.birthornot.com/. I don't know whether this is a ploy to get attention or if the couple is truly sick enough to leave a child's life in the hands of strangers.
It crossed my mind that these were pro-lifers trying to make a strong point but if this is the case - they are using evil means to get their point across and are causing scandal. If they are pro-life, LifeNews is unaware of it and is very concerned.
Whichever ultimately turns out to be the case - it's one of the sickest things I've ever read. This makes a mockery out of a little baby's life. Please pray for this baby... and the parents who are making sport of this little one's life.
And if this is really true...evil has been raised to new heights.

  1. I'm betting they're hoping some family will turn up and offer them a million dollars if they keep their baby. Yes, it's a mockery and it's heartless, but at least the baby is still alive as of now & we can pray.

  2. Prayers for this couple and the baby. I also had the cynical thought that perhaps there isn't even a baby, but this is some kind of evil stunt. But I agree, it is bad news all around.
Also, Mary if you would keep our Rachel's Vineyard weekend in your prayers this weekend. It is a full weekend with 14 men and women coming to seek God's mercy and forgiveness.
    Thanks and God bless.

  3. Jane,
It crossed my mind, also, that this could possibly be a money making scheme. Whatever the reasoning behind it, there's one thing that's clear - it's despicable. I'll definitely be praying for both the parents and the baby.

  4. Karin,
It's hard to tell from her picture whether she is pregnant or not. She is heavyset and the picture isn't a full body shot. The ultrasound pictures could be fake or of someone else's baby I guess but I just don't understand why someone would do this.

I'm glad so many people are taking advantage of the Rachel's Vineyard healing ministry. I will start praying for everyone involved tonight and will continue through the weekend. May God bless you and may He touch many hearts through you and your team this weekend!

  5. JBR,
It makes me ill to think that this could possibly be true. I'm actually hoping they are faking the whole thing because the alternative makes me heartsick.

  6. I just don't even know what to say, although I did vote - was that the right thing to do?

  7. Maria,
Yes, I think so. I did just in case they are serious about this, as sick as it sounds. Allison and a lot of other bloggers and pro-lifers voted just in case, also, which is why there has been such a huge upswing in the votes against abortion. I couldn't take the chance so I voted and am going to tackle the situation in prayer. These people SERIOUSLY need prayer either way.

  9. Victor,
AMEN! May the Lord protect this child.

    Mary,
Yes, this one shocked me, too. It's another symptom of the culture of death our country has immersed itself in.

  10. Mary...Jill Stanek has a story about it on her site (www.jillstanek.com). I believe it was a "staged thing". I think this is sick, regardless of it was started by a pro life or pro choice couple. I'm not sure this is how God would have us go about saving the babies. However, I know He can make GOOD out of BAD!!

  11. Nancy,
Thanks for the link. I've been trying to find more information about this.

  12. Saw this and, whatever the truth is, voting does seem to be the most prudent thing to do.

Catholics must remember too, (if this is staged) that one must never use evil means, even with the intention to achieve good (Rom 3:8; CCC 1789)

  13. Mary, I saw this and it made me sick. My first reaction was that these people are so abusive that if they are having a baby it should be removed from their home because they are treating it as a means to an end - their 15 minutes of fame. I couldn't tell if they were married, either, but this is sick, sick, sick. I hope it backfires on them in a big way.

  14. Pip and Barb,
I'm not quite sure what this couple is up to but it's horrifying. I was sick to my stomach over their callousness.

  15. Mary: This just has to be a hoax. God help this world and those parents if it's not! I'm not sure if I want to follow this, but am curious to the outcome. Thanks for the alert. Hope you get a chance to read my Advent reflection. Let me know. Hugs. N

  16. What happened in this situation?
To me this is so unbelievably sad but not surprising the way things are in our world...everything is all messed up and everything sacred is being cheapened. Life especially.

    So very very sad.
