Wasted Time

I love reading and meditating on quotes from the saints. Though often short and simple, they are filled with spiritual beauty and truth. Here is one that struck me by its simplicity and wisdom:

"Every moment comes to us pregnant with a command from God, only to pass on and plunge into eternity, there to remain forever what we have made of it."
                                                                            St. Francis de Sales

Never again will we have the chance to use that moment to its fullest - it is gone forever. Makes one want to use time wisely, doesn't it?

  1. Yes indeed. And we will have to render an accounting of how we used our time. Gulp!

  3. Wow. That's sobering. Thank God for Lent, when we make time to really reflect and soak this stuff up, hopefully it will stay with us longer than 40 days!

  4. "Ehm ... sorry God. I was too busy doing the shopping ... cooking ... cleaning ... taking the kids to school ... wroking generally to earn a living ... ehm ... I didn't have time to notice the poor at my door ... or the sick ... the old ..."

    Excuses. Excuses.

    God bless.

  8. Mary, I commented yesterday but I guess it got lost in cyberspace! This comment from St. Francis de Sales is powerful. The Lord only knows how much time I waste!

  9. DG,
My fault! Your comment didn't get lost - we had a little emergency here and I wasn't able to moderate comments. My dad fell and got a little banged up and had to go to the emergency room. Could you say a prayer for him? He's been falling a lot lately and we are afraid that he is going to break a bone (or worse) one of these days. Thanks!

  11. Mary,

I have asked the Blessed Mother to hold your dad close to her heart and to present his to her Son.

    God bless!

  12. Victor and DG,
Thank you so much for your prayers! He hit is head this time and his face is very swollen and banged up his legs too. These falls seem to be happening more and more often and I am very concerned.
