Randy and I just returned home from the beach this afternoon. We rent a cottage every year from some friends that we've known since we were children. My sister who is still at the beach called me a little while ago and told me that our friend's son just committed suicide. The family is totally devastated. Please, please pray.
I'm praying and I will offer my mass tomorrow for the repose of his soul and for the family.
ReplyDeleteOnly God knows the pain this poor soul was in. May he rest in Christ's peace and may Our Lady console his family.
ReplyDeleteWill pray!
ReplyDeleteOh Mary, I'm so sorry to hear your sad news. Of course, we will pray. May Our Lady comfort you all and protect the soul of the poor young man, too. God bless you, Mary:)
ReplyDeleteLord have Mercy! Praying!
ReplyDeletePraying...
ReplyDeleteprayers ascending
ReplyDeleteDevastated for them. My heart and prayers go out to them
ReplyDeleteMy prayers for his soul and for your friends.
ReplyDeleteThank you all for your prayers. This is the second death in their family this month. My friend's husband lost his father a few weeks ago also.
ReplyDeleteBut this is almost too much for them to bear. God have mercy.
Colleen,
ReplyDeleteYes, the circumstances surrounding his death are making it especially hard on his family. It's difficult enough losing a loved one but the manner of his death is causing them all tremendous grief. Thank you for your prayers - they are going to need all the support they can get.
It's distressing how suicide is viewed more & more as an 'option' in this culture. Surely that fact lessens the culpability of those who choose it but not the sorrow of those they leave behind sadly.
ReplyDeleteJust in case it might help, Fr Benedict Groeschel has spoken often of a young man he was trying to help years ago who eventually died the same way. In the wake of that, Fr wrote "Arise from Darkness". It's a powerful book...
In the meantime, we confide that family to God's Mercy thru Faustina's intercession. Amen.
praying.
ReplyDeleteThereseRita,
ReplyDeleteI have Father Groeschel's book but it has been some time since I've read it. Perhaps it would be a good time to read it again.
God's mercy is immense and I entrust Ron and his family into His loving hands. We offered our Masses, Rosary, and Mercy chaplet for him and his family today and many, many, people are praying for the entire family for which I am very grateful because they really need prayer support right now. Thank you for your words here and your prayers.
Thank you, Autumn. I am always thankful for the kindness of my fellow bloggers. I seem to request prayers constantly lately and folks are always quick to respond. May God bless each and every one of you.
ReplyDeleteOh my dear Mary. I am so so deeply sorry for you and your friends. I have known several people who have committed suicide and you are right in saying that it devastates families.
ReplyDeleteMay Christ, the King of Mercies, have MERCY now, upon this young man's soul and may His holy Mother reach out to comfort his family as they mourn his tragic death. You are all in my prayers.
Praying For everyone Mary!
ReplyDeleteVery sorry to hear this. Will pray trusting in Jesus's heart full of Divine Mercy, and asking for comfort and peace for the family an your family friends to them.
ReplyDeletePraying.....:-)Hugs
ReplyDeletePraying for everyone concerned with this very sad news.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you all at this difficult time.
Thank you all. If you could, please pray for my friend Laurie's son? He broke his neck in a diving accident yesterday and is in critical condition.
ReplyDeleteGod have mercy!
I just wanted to let you know I am praying..for your son...his friend's parents and their family during this very difficult time...Oh Father God we lift up all our prayer concerns, our petitions to Your throne this day...I look to the right side bar Father God on this blog and I see our precious Lord and Savior, Your One and Only begotten Son..the One that You gave because You LOVE us..Let Your love envelope those that are hurting right now, that are in deep sorrow. Your faithfulness is our shield and protection.....I think of Psalm 91 and pray this over the family Father..amen amen amen
ReplyDeleteOh my, Mary! Just started reading your blog and can't believe this news!! Such a tragedy...! We will never know the terrible depths of sorrow and despair a person goes through before they make this decision...Tomorrow during Mass, I will pray for the repose of his soul and also for his family's sake! Can't imagine what they must be going through!!
ReplyDeleteGod bless all the souls today who are contemplating taking their own life...may they realize how much God loves them and that their life really does impact so many who care about them. May they be strengthened in union with Christ's sufferings...Oh Lord, you know the pain they are feeling as they want to take their lives. Let us be your shining light to someone today to lift them up, even if it's only a little...May no one get lost in the crowd in your Church, my Savior!! We thank you for his life while he was here on Earth and we thank you for the lessons he taught those who knew him. Amen.
Anna,
