Sabbath Moments

Sabbath Moments is a weekly meme hosted by Colleen at Thoughts on Grace. Here are a few of my special moments this week:

~ My sister and I visited St. Joseph the Worker Shrine in Massachusetts this week. We went to Confession and visited the gift/bookstore while we were there. The store has a used book section and I hit the jackpot! Someone had just dropped off a huge stack of great books, some of which I had been wanting to read for a while, and I left with just about the whole stack! It felt like Christmas in October! I love when this happens! They sell the used books for dirt cheap and I would never have been able to buy them all new...well, not all at once anyway.

~ It snowed a few nights ago! When I woke up the next morning and looked outside I was awestruck by how beautiful the trees looked wearing their bright fall colors topped with a layer of white fluff. We don't usually get snow this early so it was a nice surprise. We are supposed to have a huge snowstorm tonight too! My puppy, Caesar, ate his first snowball and loved every bit of it!

~ After Mass Friday morning, I met a friend for breakfast and we spent an hour and a half talking, laughing, and simply enjoying each other's company. We've known one another since high school and try to get together regularly. Thank you, Lord, for good friends!

~ I enjoyed my break from blogging...maybe a little too much. I got a lot accomplished this week and am tempted to extend my blogging break a bit longer :) Not too long, though!

I hope everyone had a great week!

  1. Book bargains are hard to turn down, especially when they're something you've wanted for some time. God gives us these blessings to motivate us, I'm sure.

The first snow for puppies is always fun to watch. Dogs are so great for fun, affection, and laughs. Can we see more pictures someday?

  2. Hi Mary,

I did the same thing Friday. After daily mass, I went to meet a friend for an early lunch. (I stay for the rosary group and then since it was Fri, we pray the stations of the cross). It was so much fun to just catch up and relax! I'm happy to hear you were able to enjoy time with a good friend!

  4. Barb,
The puppy has doubled in size already! He weighs five pounds now! I'll try to get some pictures up soon...if he stops long enough to let me take a picture that is!

Getting all the books was a blessing. No Divine Intimacy though...

  5. Noreen,
I'm glad you had a good time with your friend too :) The church where I attend Mass during the week now does the Rosary before Mass but I can't get there for it because of the school bus. It would be great if they did it after Mass instead - I enjoy praying the Rosary in groups because it's such a powerful prayer.

  6. Jade,
Aren't books great?! Sit me down with a pile of books and I'm a goner!

  7. Colleen,
Your mom must be getting this storm too. It's already snowing outside and this one is supposed to be a big one. It's awfully early to get substantial snow...it was in the high eighties a month ago! That's New England weather for you!

The puppy likes the snow but not on his paws :)

  8. It's amazing that it snowed already where you are whereas here in the UK we seem to have got a second Spring with sunshine and temperatures up to 15 Degrees C. It gets rather cold at night though.

    God bless.

  10. Victor,
The weather is wacko here these days. We never know what to expect anymore...it's weird.

  11. Anne,
Yes on the shoveling...we got slammed :) This one was a doozy! We are blessed to have electricity so quickly. One of the great things about living in NH is that we border Canada and they often send down work crews to help us. Still, it will take a week or two before everyone gets power again!
