The Face of Joy

Christ and the sinner

Look up, dear one.

Your joy is not in the past that haunts you.

Nor does it lie in the future that confounds you.

Your joy lies here waiting in the present that surrounds you.

I am here. Turn your gaze to Me, the Face of Joy.

And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.     Mt 28:20

I speak this in the world so that they may share my joy completely.  Jn 17:13

"Come," says my heart, "seek God's face"; your face, Lord, do I seek.   Psalm 27:8

  1. This is beautiful Mary. Did you write this poem?

The Matthew quote is my favourite.

    God bless.

    1. Thank you, Victor - yes, I wrote it and I'm glad you liked it. I wasn't going to put it up but changed my mind because I thought it might help someone besides me...lol. I've been thinking of these words for the past two days and how we search so hard for joy in things when the truth is that joy is a Person not a thing.
      Thanks for commenting!

    2. Joy is within us if we trust enough.

    3. Sure is! It reminds me of that song kids sing, "I've got the joy, joy, joy, joy, down in my heart!" I used to love that song when I was little :)

  3. So love this Mary! I had to pin it so I can come back to it and I love the image. I always imagine myself laying at Jesus' feet.

Keep me in prayer...having a test Friday and a little nervous about results.

    xoxo

    1. Thanks, Theresa! I loved the picture too :) I also appreciate all the links you sent me recently - I have to pry myself away from one of the sites.

Yes, I will pray for you. Sending you a big hug as well.

  4. Mary, this is so beautiful! The image is exquisite, too. I've been reading all of my old blog posts that I've written during these past five years, sifting out all of the poems, and I just have to tell you how incredibly sweet you are. You always had something nice to say even when my posts were so filled with stories of how depressed I was. You are a bright and beaming light and have done so much good for my soul. Thank you for everything!
