The gift of prophecy is one of the charisms that the Lord gives to some people. Different people have different gifts and each gift fits into the "bigger picture" as a piece would fit into a puzzle. Prophecy is not always about the future, though it can be. Many prophetic words speak about the present time and may even draw on words from the past to "teach" or "warn" about the future. This is why sometimes you see an Old Testament passage given as a prophetic word for the present day. These are warnings and are meant to be taken seriously. Here is a link about the charism of prophesy - Prophetic Words.
Everyone who reads this blog knows that I believe we live in serious times. To make the "words" I (or at times others) have been given more easily accessible I have added a new feature to my sidebar with most of the links to the prophetic words given on my blogs. The links are all under the title "Words" for Our Times. These words are from 2009 and 2010 and they are more important now than ever. I will be adding to this list over time and linking to certain posts of other bloggers that I believe have this gift also.
Please remember that while reading these words that the reason God gives them to people is to help us not to frighten us. They are words from a loving God who sees his people walking blindly into grave danger spiritually and He is calling us to back to himself.
"God is love, and whoever remains in love remains in God and God in him." 1 John 4:16
I so agree. We are living in the last days indeed Mary. Thank you for the added link. Blessings to yu dear one.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea with the posts on your sidebar. Thank you Mary for having the courage and following what God is asking of you in writing about this.
ReplyDeleteWhile certain people may have the charism of prophecy, I do believe we are all called to be aware of and read the signs of the times in whatever way God calls us to.
Thanks again and God bless.
JBR,
ReplyDeleteI don't think we are living in the last days as in the sense of the "end of the world". We know that God is allowing a lot of unusual events and disasters in our day but hopefully people will turn to Him and not away from Him. It's definitely a good time to pray a lot for the world I would say!
Though I don't think we are living near the end, it's possible - only God knows for sure. Thanks for commenting and God bless you, my friend :)
Karin,
ReplyDeleteThanks, Karin. People are often searching for these pages anyway so I thought I'd make them easier to find. Plus, I DO think God is asking me to write about the times we live in so I'm obeying :)
I agree that each and every one of us is called to be aware of the signs around us right now. I think most Christians know that we live in "unusual" times because, at this point, the signs are everywhere. My elderly neighbor, who says he "isn't religious at all but believes in God" has said that he thinks these are the days that are spoken of in Revelation. He says there are "mighty strange things going on" and he's "never seen anything like it".
God bless you, too, Karin!
I just discovered your blog. I was drawn to your post on the Prophetic word. We do live in very serious times and we as Discilpes will have to be strong. Thanks for sharing Leanne from Roses Tea & Our lady
ReplyDeleteThank you for commenting, Leanne :) Yes, we absolutely live in serious times though many people would like to close their eyes to it. Eventually, this will change as events become more obvious.
