Some organic milk with your food dyes, Sweetie?

While I was getting dressed this morning my husband was "making" breakfast for my daughter and I happened to overhear their conversation. It went like this:

"What chemical do you want for breakfast this morning, Peanut?"

"I'll have the glazed food dyes, Daddy."

"Do you want the ones with the extra fiber and the added calcium?"

"Is it more nutritious, Daddy?"

"I don't think so, Peanut."

They think they are so funny. What a pair of froot loops!

You might think I'm kidding but this conversation really took place. Meant for my ears I'm sure. I've tried to train them but I don't think you can teach an old dog new trix. How about some truth in advertising?

t - tons of sugar
r - red lake # 40
i - infused with preservatives
x - x-rays recommended after ingestion

No...I didn't do the grocery shopping this week.

  3. My daughter used to point to the commercials and say "See, mommy, it says that it is part of a nutritious breakfast!" I had to explain to her that the cereal was the part that was NOT nutritious.

    "They lied?!!"

    They sure did.

  4. These days I suppose one gets more of a square meal by eating the box rather than the cereals in it!

    God bless.

  5. LOL! You're quick, Victor! Maybe all those food preservatives preserve our brains too ;)
    (Or pickle them!)

  8. JBR,
Kids take things literally when they are young and believe almost everything they hear. She knows now that commercials often distort the truth. She still begs for the sweet cereals though - they make them so appealing for kids.

I visited your blogs today and enjoyed your posts! God bless you, JBR :)

  9. Elizabeth,
The contradiction between buying organic foods and junkfood at the same time tickles my funnybone :)

  11. You too, Judy? Maybe they should just give them cake for breakfast! (Actually, cake is probably a bit healthier.)
