Sabbath Moments

Sabbath Moments is a weekly meme hosted by Colleen at Thoughts on Grace. These are moments that we rest in God and just be rather than do. Speaking of rest - the napster [oh yeah, I forgot my brother-in-law changed it to Mrs. Nicenapper when I got married] snuck in quite a few naps this week :) For me, this is always a Sabbath moment! Naps are a blessing to those who have insomnia. I always give the Lord my sleep or lack thereof :)

The weather here in N.H. has been gorgeous the past few days, near 70. I spent some time outside with my daughter yesterday and watched her ride her scooter and play with her friends :) I sat in a chair and just enjoyed the sunshine and their laughter.

Today, I spent an hour talking to Saint Joseph and asking for his intercession. I had such peace inside as I spoke to him. I try to speak to the saints honestly and openly, I only use formal prayer when I am doing a novena. Except for the Mercy Chaplet and the Rosary; these I try to do daily. When I am talking to the Church Triumphant I speak to them as I would speak to my friends. A bit more respectfully, though :) St. Joseph is a powerful saint, we are blessed to have so many wonderful intercessors that enjoy helping us!

  1. Mary, I have just finished my prayer to St. Joseph this morning......we are blessed to have such powerful saints working on our behalf, if only people knew how they could easily turn to them in prayer and receive love, guidance and protection.
So glad your weather is so nice, not quite as nice in Alberta, I am still waiting on Spring.
    Enjoy your weekend......:-) Hugs

  2. Thank God for St. Joseph. I find myself thinking about the meaning of him being a "just man." Glad you had some restful moments this week.

  3. Bernie,
Yes, we were lucky to get a bunch of warm days in a row. I don't think it's supposed to stay this way, though! I'll be chilly with you next week;)

  4. Barb,
Thanks, Barb! Interesting comment, I don't think I've thought about his being just though it's mentioned in the Bible. It's food for thought. God bless you, Barb :)

  5. Great moments, Mary! Glad you were able to have time outside! Love the naps. I usually only get the 15 minute "power naps"! Thanks for participating with me every week! God bless!

  6. Mary,
I love the idea of talking to the saints as friends~ they truly are. I need to remember to go to them more often.
Enjoy the nice weather; we are having much the same here in NJ.
    God Bless!

  7. Colleen,
My naps are much longer than that! I'm too embarrassed to say how long they can last!

  8. Karin,
I'm enjoying having St. Francis as my patron saint this year. Thanks for the great pick. I studied up on him online. Wow! I can learn a lot from his life!
Glad you're getting the nice weather, too :)

  9. Hi Mary,
Well, you know how I feel about St. Joseph, so I am giving you a high five for spending time with him!
We had two nice days last week, then boom! late Friday afternoon it dropped over 20 degrees in a matter of an hour and we got snow Friday night into Saturday morning. From sunburn to frostbite in 24 hours, go figure ;)
    hugs and prayers,
    Is (lynn)

  10. Lynn,
Yeah, I know you and St. Joseph are good friends :)
It got chilly here today, I think it will be back to regular temps for a while but it was nice while it lasted! Hugs to you, Is :)
