"They cry peace, when there is no peace"

The last two days I can't get these words out of my mind. Each time I try to move my mind and heart away from them they come back more strongly. I've been pondering why the Lord has been sinking these words into my heart over and over. What comes to me is that, worldwide, the spiritual situation has become so dire that it borders on emergency. I think that this is why I [and others] keep getting 911 warnings. The truth is people are deceiving themselves about the condition of the world and our country. Without God, there is no true peace; deep interior peace comes from God alone. Can we look around and honestly say that the people of our world have turned their faces toward Our Lord?

You walk into bookstores and you see so many new age books. We are surrounded by false prophets. Wolves in sheep's clothing. Their words sound pleasing to the ear, especially to those who are hungering spiritually. " Everyone is fine. There is no such thing as sin. There is no hell. Jesus was an ascended master." An ascended master? What the heck is an ascended master?!! Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God! The Savior of the world ...whether one is aware of this fact or not. Some New Age followers say that Christians are " unenlightened" and that their minds have not yet been opened to the truth. I even heard a celebrity say that Christians are the biggest problem in this country. We are narrow-minded. We don't think it's okay to murder babies and store them in glass jars or throw them in the trash.

"They say to those who despise the word of the Lord,
  'Peace shall be yours' ;
And to everyone who walks in hardness
  of heart,
  'No evil shall overtake you.'

The most dangerous "religion" in the world is New Age. Why they call it New Age, I'll never know. It's been around in various forms for hundreds of years. Why do I call it the most dangerous? Because many people are drawn in by the mixture of truth and lies that the New Age proclaims. It is Satan's greatest deceit, yet. In many ways it is more dangerous than out and out Satanism because it draws one in slowly and bit by bit draws people away from God. It places the focus on self. Self-worship. Isn't that the very same thing that caused the fall of Lucifer? Pride. At least those who practice Satanism know that they are doing it, the poor New Agers have no clue that they are working for Lucifer who disguises himself as an angel of light.

I went into a bookstore one day and picked up a book. I didn't even have a chance to open the cover before I heard,  "Put it back!" I immediately put the book back on the shelf. The book was by someone called Eckhart Tolle. This happened to me another time at the same store, I picked up a book and again heard,"Put it back!" This one was called "The Secret" or something like that.  I had vaguely heard of the book and was curious as to why it was a bestseller. I put it back, though. I guess there's really no great secret anyway. It's simple really:
"I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."   John 14:6

  1. Oh Mary we are so blessed and I am so thankful to know and serve God....others are not as blessed as we are and we must pray for their salvation. It is frightening with the anything goes today attitude of so many people....we cannot judge them Mary but we can pray for them always........:-) Hugs

  3. I had that happen with a novel in the YA section. A lot of people love that series, but as soon as I touched it, I felt warned not to read it.

Sad, too, because I'd read one excerpt and it sounded neat. But, you know...

  4. You are so right...true peace only comes thru and from HIM. What a challenge we have as Christians to be His witness in a world so easily deceived.

  5. Mary,
Before my reversion I had gotten into New Age thought and theory. I read just about anything I could. You are so right about the dangers. It mixes lies and heresies that have been around forever with bits of truth or half truths. In my case what I realized after I had returned to the Church was that the New Age stuff got me off the hook for all that I had done to offend God. It was all about me, not about Him. Catholicism gets us out of ourselves to turn to God, New Age is egocentric and there begins its dangers.
Thanks for speaking on this topic. More needs to be said and heard about it.
    God Bless!

  6. Bernie,
If this came across too strongly, I apologize. The Lord's been trying to firm up my will and get rid of leftover wishy-washiness. We are at a point in time where the Lord is calling for Christians to speak up in defense of life and truth. I have learned that it is okay to judge the actions but not the person. I pray for my brothers and sisters caught in the New Age trap, it makes me sad to see good people led astray by false teaching. Don't worry, I even pray for the celebrity with the anti-Christian sentiments, I know that she doesn't really know any better :) God bless you, my friend!

  7. Philangelus,
It works both ways, sometimes :) Once I was at a bookstore and I asked the Lord to help me pick out a good book. Shortly after, a book fell and landed right on my foot. I picked it up and it was a book about St. Teresa of Avila who is my patron saint. So... I bought it. It was a good one, too :)

  8. Eckhart Tolle is a scary guy. My coworker keeps trying to get me to read him. NOT on your life! She doesn't understand my explanations, so I've sadly given up trying.

  9. Karinann,
Good point! It keeps people from accepting responsibility for their own actions.

  10. I think you are spot on Mary about new age books, they are centered on the individual and not God......very misleading and could seriously affect the weaker minded person who is not grounded in Faith. I pray God will reach these people, who have not been taught or raised in his truth.......)-) Hugs

  11. I have recently posted on this topic too, called "Angel Therapy?" I think "New Age" comes from the dawning of the Age of Aquarius.

Once I read a book too, about a near death experience that was full of New Age views such as pre-existence, reincarnation and no judgement upon death. This was long before my conversion and before I was walking with Jesus...yet, I distinctly heard in my heart "This book is an abomination to me." I knew it was Jesus, even then.

  12. Pip,
I think I know what book you're talking about. I read it before my conversion, too :) It didn't ring true to me even then.
