A prayer request

I'm off to see a new doctor today. Hopefully, we can find out just what it is that I have, so I can get some relief. A definitive diagnosis would be nice. At least then I would know exactly what I was dealing with and what to expect. If you have a moment, please say a little prayer for me. Sometimes I feel overwhelmed by all that I have to do plus dealing with chronic pain. I make sure that I unite it with Jesus' suffering and this helps me cope with the pain better but I would still like to know what disease I am suffering from. I know that I have some type of muscle and joint disease or the prednisone wouldn't help so much. The doctors have pretty much thrown out the diagnosis of fibromyalgia.

Do you know what bothers me the most about being sick? Having to say to my daughter that, "Mommy can't play with you today because I am feeling bad." Kids love to go outside and run around, play tag, hide and seek, swim - all kinds of active things. These are the things she likes to do best and these are the things that are the hardest for me to do. I read to her and play quiet games instead. Sometimes I push myself and run around with her but I usually pay for it after. It would be nice to wake up feeling great and be able to say, "C'mon Peanut, let's go run around the park!"  :)

  2. Mary, I will be praying for you today. God Bless you. It is tough being sick, especially when you have children to raise. Chronic pain can be so hard and discouraging!

Back in Dec. of '08 I began to have such bad pain in my hip joints, knees and ankles that I couldn't bend over, sleep comfortably, or walk well. Climbing stairs was a nightmare. By evening my ankles and knees were swollen to three times their size. I was miserable and scared because I had my four children to take care of on my own. My doctor couldn't figure it out. I began doubling my calcium intake (Citrical) and taking a Glucosamine pill (can buy at Sam's or Walmart) everyday.

Then I began praying the St. Joseph Cloak novena everyday (it is long but so good) and begged for relief so that I could live out my vocation as mother. By February I was much better. By Spring, it was gone and has not come back since. I will pray to St. Joseph for you!

    Hugs,
    Lynn

  5. Heavenly Father and giver of all good gifts, please bring your sweet gift of healing to your daughter, Mary. Let her enjoy the glory of your nature, side by side with her dear little one so that together, their joy will bring you endless glory. Thank you for your neverending love, Amen.

  8. Thank you all! Maybe something will show up in the bloodwork or x-rays. For once I was GLAD my hands and shoulders were swollen today so the doctor could actually see it. At least she knows that SOMETHING unusual is going on, whatever it is. No prednisone this time. This was my first visit with this particular doctor, she seems a bit more thorough than the others I've seen. She didn't just pull out a prescription pad and say, "Take this". That's a good sign :)

  15. Gabriella,
Thanks for your prayers:) The appointment went well but I won't know anything until the results from the bloodwork and xrays come in. The only thing I didn't like is that she is against any natural remedies and supplements [which I take a lot of] so I got a lot of eye-rolling :)

  16. Mary, don't get discouraged by the eye-rolling. It comes with the territory. I prayed for you the rest of the week so that you might find out what is going on. I don't think fibromyalgia comes with swelling, but you could still have it in accompaniment with whatever else is going on. I'll let you know how things are going with the new natural healing doctor I'm seeing so maybe something I learn can help you. It's hard to hurt all the time and to have to push yourself to do what other people consider "normal". It's a good thing we can work on purgatory here on earth. God bless you.
